New Look will be pulling down the shutters on one of its sites this week

The store is located inside the Maybird shopping park in Stratford-upon-Avon, and will shut for good on Satuday, October 28.

A New Look spokesperson confirmed the closure to The Sun and said: “As part of the normal course of business, New Look occasionally closes stores, while also undertaking relocations and new site openings.

“While some sites have closed recently, we have opened a number of new stores this year and we remain on the lookout for appropriate new opportunities across the country.”

Shoppers have shared their disappointment at the news on social media.

One wrote: “Yes I found this out on Saturday absolutely gutted as it is a fantastic New Look store.

“Don’t understand why they would shut it, people travel especially to come to that retail park and that store.”

Another commented: “What a shame. Already so little choice when if comes to clothes shopping in Stratford!”

A third said: “Gutted to lose New Look; it’s one of the few shops in Stratford I actually use.

While another wrote: “There be nothing left here soon.

“Load of c**p as it is.”

And a fifth commented: “That is a shame.

“I am old, but find the odd piece in New Look, and the staff in Stratford branch are lovely.”

New Look has already closed a number of its stores this year.

Its shop in Bromsgrove high street, Worcestershire, closed its doors for the final time on September 9.

The chain shut its store in Beverley, east Yorkshire, on September 8.

New Look also shut its shops in Slough and Windsor on September 5.

It pulled down the shutters on its branch in the Cornmarket, Lancaster, on September 2.

Meanwhile, its shop in the Crossgates Shopping Centre, Leeds, closed to customers at the end of August.

Its store in the Kings Chase Shopping Centre, Leeds, shut on August 9, while the branch in Fosse Park Shopping Centre, Leicester, closed for good on July 25.

It shut six branches in January and February this year too.

Here is the full list of New Look shops which have shut this year:

  • Birmingham, Fort Shopping Park – January 9
  • Trowbridge – January 23
  • Coventry – January 29
  • Birmingham, Bullring – January 30
  • Kirkcaldy, Fife – February
  • Walthamstow, London – February 4
  • Grosvenor Centre, Northampton – February 15
  • Witham – May 18

  • Middlesbrough  – July 8
  • White Rose Centre, Rhyl – July 25
  • Kings Chase Shopping Centre, Bristol – August 9
  • Crossgates shopping centre, Leeds – end of August
  • Cornmarket, Lancaster – September 2
  • Slough – September 5
  • Windsor – September 5
  • Beverley – September 8
  • Bromsgrove – September 9

But it’s not all bad news though.

The Fosse Park Shopping Park, branch in Leicestershire pulled down its shutters in the summer to make way for a bigger venue.

New Look has also opened a store in Grimsby recently and is opening in Leicester next week.

It also has plans to open more stores in 2023, though it hasn’t said how many and where in the UK they’ll be.

The high street has suffered in recent years due to the switch to online shopping, especially during the pandemic.

In the last year the cost of living has been rising, meaning shoppers are cutting back on most non-essential spending.

This means that brick and mortar stores have seen less footfall.

Familiar brands including the likes of M&Co and Paperchase closed all of their stores earlier this year after falling into administration.

And several bargain chains are closing sites too.
