It is believed that the accused, Madrano, took the girl into the United States at the Sumas border crossing. The girl was located alive in Oregon City, more than 1,500 km from the home where she was last seen on June 24, 2022.
The accused is listed on a podcast app as the co-host and the producer of a program that aired on KBOO. The program’s most recent episode features a segment in which the host pretends to have phone sex with a teen girl.
The episode is deleted where the girl’s voice can be heard on the audio, but her identity is unclear, or if the voice has been simulated or altered. Postmedia asked Oregon City Police whether the officials were aware of the recordings but did not hear the response.

CCTV footage of the teen was obtained on Friday at a fast-food restaurant. The fast food is 5 kilometers from the Sumas border crossing into Washington state. The suspect is believed to have spent the past three to four days in the town of Mission, British Columbia, as per Vancouver Sun reports.
The teen and the suspect had already fled the scene when the Abbotsford police arrived. It is still unclear how they were able to pass the checkpoint and enter the country.
