Health secretary says spread of India variant means roadmap could be knocked off track

No decision will be taken until the week before 21 June whether to proceed with the final stage of removing coronavirus restrictions, Matt Hancock has said.

The health secretary said the government is “throwing everything” at stopping the spread of the new variant of coronavirus first detected in India, but its roadmap could be knocked off track.
