Digital editions of Monster Hunter Rise and the expansion title Sunbreak are usually worth £49.99.

But Nintendo has cut the price in half – to it’s lowest price ever – so players only need to spend £24.99 to get both titles.

Even the standard edition of Monster Hunter Rise is heavily discounted on Nintendo’s eShop.

The standalone game, currently £13.99, is 60 per cent off until Tuesday, when it will return to its usual price tag of £34.99.

Rise and Sunbreak have ratings of 88 and 86 on gaming reviews site Metacritic, respectively.

The pair have received warm reviews from critics.

Ninty Fresh Magazine called Monster Hunter Rise “absolutely phenomenal” and a worthy contender for Game of the Year.

While CD-Action wrote: “I’m impressed by how well the developers thought this game through.

“It makes great use of Switch’s nature and by clearly separating the multiplayer from the single-player campaign, it ensures you’re going to have fun regardless of the circumstances.

“Apart from one subpar mode (which imitates a tower defence), it’s an amazing game.”

Folks at GameCritics added that picking up Rise and Sunbreak together “should be a no-brainer” for Switch owners.

“For anyone who owns and enjoyed Rise, picking up Sunbreak should be a no-brainer,” the Metacritic review said.

“It’s an intelligent expansion that retains the best of Monster Hunter Rise and adds more than enough to warrant its existence atop an already-meaty title.”

Although it’s not all sunshine and roses.

Other critics and players say Sunbreak misses the bar slightly for best expansion in recent years due to relying too much on “randomness” and becoming “a little bit stale”.
