Pikmin 4 will launch exclusively for Nintendo Switch on July 21, 2023.

Those who can’t wait that long to get into the highly-anticipated sequel will be able to play right now.

A free demo for the upcoming game is now available on the Nintendo eShop to download straight to your console.

However, keen fans who have already finished the demo have noticed a secret perk.

Pikmin 4’s rescue pup Oatchi will change how you play the game
Pikmin 4 is one of the last great Switch games

Once you’re done with the demo, you will unlock a new costume that can be used in the mobile game Pikmin Bloom.

Pikmin 4 adds a new companion, Oatchi, a rideable character that will help you move your Pikmin around.

Your team of Pikmin can ride atop Oatchi to cross difficult spots, and Oatchi can also get into gaps your character can’t.

Oatchi is unlocked right at the start of the game, so you’ll be able to play with them in the demo.

To celebrate this, once the demo is finished, you will be able to ride Oatchi in Pikmin Bloom.

The free costume places your Mii on Oatchi so you can ride them around the mobile game.

A statement from Nintendo reads: “Players who complete the Pikmin 4 demo or play the full version of the game (available July 21) on the Nintendo Switch system will earn the Pikmin 4 Oatchi-Rider Costume reward code for use in the Pikmin Bloom app for smartphones.

“Dress up your Mii character in Pikmin Bloom to feel like you’re riding Oatchi for the first time all over again!”

If you complete the demo, you will also be able to carry over the data to the full game if you choose to buy it.
