The series premieres on December 2nd

The Syfy channel will launch its next big science fiction show this weekend: Nightflyers, which is based on a novella by George R.R. Martin. The series follows the crew of a starship — the Nightflyer — as they head out to study an alien starship that is passing through their corner of the galaxy. But there’s something strange about the spaceship, something that will put the entire crew in danger.

This isn’t the first time that the novella has been adapted for film — a film based on the story came out in 1987. Syfy describes its version as the “Exorcist in space,” and the ten-episode series will begin screening on December 2nd, with a new episode each week night until December 13th.
