Next is recalling this wall mirror over fears it could fall down

The retailer is recalling the product due to a potential issue with its construction, according to the recall notice on the Next website.

Next is yet to confirm the exact problem, but a review on its website says her mirror had separated from the board in transit, so she had to return it.

The mirrors come with product number 688055.

If you have one at home, it’s best to take it down and contact Next for a refund.

Your product recall rights

PRODUCT recalls are an important means of protecting consumers from dangerous goods.

As a general rule, if a recall involves a branded product, the manufacturer would usually have lead responsibility for the recall action.

But it’s often left up to supermarkets to notify customers when products could put them at risk.

If you are concerned about the safety of a product you own, always check the manufacturer’s website to see if a safety notice has been issued.

When it comes to appliances, rather than just food items, the onus is usually on you – the customer – to register the appliance with the manufacturer as if you don’t there is no way of contacting you to tell you about a fault.

If you become aware that an item you own has been recalled or has any safety noticed issued against it, make sure you follow the instructions given to you by the manufacturer.

They should usually provide you with more information and a contact number on its safety notice.

In some cases, the manufacturer might ask you to return the item for a full refund or arrange for the faulty product to be collected.

You should not be charged for any recall work – such as a repair, replacement or collection of the recalled item.

To arrange a collection of the mirror, you can call Next on 0333 777 8000 and choose option one.

Alternatively, you can call Selfserve on 0800 587 7758, input your Selfserve number and select option three.

Another option is to sign into your account online and select the “arrange a return” from the menu to arrange a courier collection.

If you’ve given the item as a gift, Next is also urging you to contact that person as soon as possible and let them know about the recall.

The Sun has asked Next how many phones are being recalled and how much they cost, and we’ll update this article once we hear back.

The mirrors are still listed on the Next website, but it says the item is “unavailable to order”.
