NETFLIX is finally allowing users to wipe shows from the “continue watching” section of its app.

It means that you can delete the half-finished programmes in your queue that you have no intention of completing.

The new feature is out in the US and UK on Netflix’s web, mobile, and TV apps, The Verge reports.

To delete something from the carousel on your smart TV, select the offending card and hit the new “remove from row” option.

On the mobile app, the same option appears when you tap the three vertical dots menu on the show’s card. On desktop, hover over the card you want to remove.

You can quickly hit the button a second time to undo the removal in case you change your mind.

Fans have been calling for a way to remove content from their continue watching carousel for years.

It appears in your feed on the Netflix app and website alongside categories such as “award-winning movies”, “trending now” and “comedies”.

While the string of unwatched shows is a useful way to pick up where you left off following your last binge-watch, it is frequently clogged up with unwanted stuff.

If you’ve watched one episode of a drama and then gave up on it, for instance, that show can stick around in your continue watching section for months.

Fans took to social media to hail the new tool, which finally allows them to remove the embarrassing shows they’d rather hide from their feed.

One Twitter user wrote: “A button to ‘remove from continue watching’ has just appeared on my Netflix, and I swear my life is changed forever.”

Another said: “They added a remove from continue watching button on Netflix bro this s**t insane”.

And a third chimed in with: “Yay. I can finally remove the temptation to continue watching what I’ve already watched a dozen times and try new content.”

It comes weeks after Netflix announced a controversial price hike in the United States.

The between $1 and $2 rise across all of the service’s monthly subscription tiers makes it the country’s most expensive streaming platform.

Netflix’s top 4K plan has been pushed up to the $20 a month mark, up from $18, while its lowest tier has climbed by a dollar to $10.

The app’s mid-range and most popular subscription tier has gone from $14 a month to $15.50.

That makes it more expensive than similar plans offered by HBO Max, Showtime, Disney Plus, Apple TV Plus, Amazon Prime Video, Hulu, Peacock, Paramount Plus and other major streaming services.

It’s the sixth time the company has raised its monthly fees since 2014. The most recent to affect users in North America rolled out in October 2020.
