NETFLIX is making games playable on TVs and computers – and not just your smartphone – to a handful of users.

Selected subscribers in the UK and Canada will be part of the lucky few to test the new offering as part of a beta trial.

Two games are part of the initial test: Oxenfree from Night School Studio, a Netflix Game Studio, and Molehew’s Mining Adventure, a gem-mining arcade game.

To see if you’re account is eligible for the free perk, simply head to Netflix.com, log in and see whether you see gaming as an option over the coming weeks.

Netflix has been trying to wriggle its way into the gaming sector for some time, unveiling a new game controller app for iOS just last week.

In a blog post last night, Netflix vice president of games Mike Verdu wrote: “To play our games on TV, we’re introducing a controller that we already have in our hands most of the day — our phones.

“Members on PCs and Macs can play on Netflix.com with a keyboard and mouse.”

Check this list to see if your device/ TV is compatible with the new feature:

  • Amazon Fire TV Streaming Media Players
  • Chromecast with Google TV
  • LG TVs
  • Nvidia Shield TV
  • Roku devices and TVs
  • Samsung Smart TVs
  • Walmart ONN

If you’re disappointed to be missing out on the beta trial, you need to make sure Netflix knows you want to be included by making a simple Settings change.
