NESTLE has discontinued another chocolate that’s “even better than Caramac” as fans cry “what will we dunk in our tea now”.

The chocolatiers have announced they’re axing Drifter bars which were originally launched in the 1980s.

The layered wafer chocolate bar was a much-loved treat for many Brits – but now sadly can’t be bought in major stores.

Nestle made the shock announcement a few months ago after one fan complained they couldn’t find them anywhere.

The company said: “Sorry to have to give you disappointing news, unfortunately the Drifter bar has been discontinued from our range.”

People have since begged Nestle to bring back the “best chocolate bar”.

One person said: “Nestle, do us all a favour and bring back the Drifter so people can have a nice cup of tea with a Drifter…..these need to be brought back.

“There is no biscuit/chocolate bar that compares to the caramel wafer delight!”

Another wrote: “Can you please bring back the best chocolate bar you ever created – Drifter.”

Nestle responded: “It’s great to hear you’re a fan. No plans yet, but we’ll surely let the team know you’d like to see them back.”

It comes after Nestle recently confirmed they would be discontinuing the Caramc bar after 60 years

The iconic flavour came into play in the late 1950s with other variations making their way onto shop shelves too including a limited edition Caramac Kit Kat bar and Caramac buttons.

A Nestle spokesperson told The Sun: “We are very sorry to disappoint fans of Caramac. There has been a steady decline in its sales over the past few years and we had to make the difficult decision to discontinue it.

“We know fans will be disappointed to see it go, but this change will enable us to focus on our best-performing brands, as well as develop exciting new innovations to delight our consumers’ tastebuds.”

If you are looking to get an Animal milk chocolate bar before they are gone for good, a few retailers still have them in stock.

Tesco has one of the 19g bars for 25p in stores and online. B&M also stocks the bar for 29p.

Or you can head to Asda for a bar for a little bit more at 30p, the supermarket also had a multipack available but it looks like that is out of stock already.

There aren’t too many dupes of the Animal bar around, Cadbury’s does a Dairy Milk Furry friends assortment but you’re not likely to find these outside of Australia.

You can get multipacks of the Cadbury Dairy Milk Little Bars in supermarkets like Tesco’s for £1.25 but they won’t feature any animal designs.

The Animal bar has been added to a long list of many chocolate bars we’ll be saying goodbye to this year.

Chocolate fans are only just realising the iconic Topic bar is missing from shelves.

And Nestle fans have already claimed the chocolatier “ruined family desserts” by axing the beloved Carnation Extra Thick Cream.

Meanwhile, Cabury quietly scrapped the popular Dairy Milk 30 per cent less sugar bar earlier this year which is no longer available for purchase.

In other news, B&M shoppers are going wild for “delicious” hot chocolate based on iconic flavour.
