THE NATIONAL Lottery app went down for hundreds of customers yesterday as they rushed to check results and purchase tickets.

According to DownDetector over 1,000 users were unable to login to the National Lottery app on Saturday.

As of 8am today reports have dropped to around 100 with many still experiencing issues.

One user took to Twitter yesterday to moan saying: “The app won’t load for me or my husband on different devices – problem @TNLUK?”

It comes as one lucky Brit has scooped Saturday’s huge £11.6 million jackpot.

The winning numbers were 11, 14, 20, 35, 41 and 46 with the bonus number being 02.

  • What is a rollover?

Rollovers help increase the size of a jackpot, as ticket sales and funds from the previous draw are added to the value of the top prize.

As the advertised prize rises, more people tend to buy tickets as they hope for a huge win. Playing for the same amount week after week won’t create the same amount of excitement – or ticket sales – as a rapidly-growing jackpot.

Lotto has a rollover limit rather than a jackpot cap, ensuring that the top prize is won on a regular basis. The jackpot is only permitted to roll over five times in a row and it must then be won in the next draw.
