FORTNITE fans have slammed the game for pricing people out of its highly-anticipated Avatar collaboration and the removal of a popular feature.
The battle royale title has teamed up with cult-classic series Avatar: The Last Airbender in its latest 29.20 update.
The collab introduced three new Avatar skins: Katara, Toph and Zuko.
But many players have deemed the new skins “barebones” and “overpriced”, GamesRadar noted, with each costing 2,000 V-Bucks each.
Franchise-tied skins typically lean on the pricier side.
But the level of detail, lack of variables and accessories like gliders and contrails, have left fans wondering if they’re even worth getting.

“These prices are absolutely outrageous,” one player wrote in a now-deleted Reddit post.
“TMNT skins which brought more or less the same things were [1,600], only Zuko should be this price since realistically he’s the only one that needs to be bundled with his pickaxe but Toph and Katara do not need to be this price.”
Another wrote: “A few months ago and these skins would be properly priced at 1500 each [V-Bucks]… AS THEY SHOULD.”
Where is Aang?
While Aang’s sidekicks and one-time rival are present in the game, the Avatar himself is not yet available as a skin
A teaser trailer released by Epic Games on Monday confirmed Avatar: The Last Airbender’s imminent arrival.
The introduction video shows Katara heading towards Aang frozen in the iceberg, alongside Zuko firebending and Toph earthbending.
Leakers claim that an Aang skin will be included in the Event Pass.
Goodbye Rarities
Fortnite has also removed its rarity system, which was used to categorise skins.

Previously, skins were classified as:
- Exotic
- Mythic
- Legendary
- Epic
- Rare
- Uncommon
- Common
A rare skin is, typically, one that’s not often available in the Item Shop.
Whereas Common ones are available to buy fairly regularly.
“My life is RUINED! They removed rarities from my FAVORITE Fortnite skins!,” one player said on X (formerly Twitter).
“This the worst thing that’s ever happened to me!! The only reason I bought skins was because of their rarity!!! Not because I actually liked them!!”
Another wrote: “NOT PLAYING FORTNITE UNTIL THEY ADD RARITIES BACK.
“EPIC GAMES! BRING BACK RARITIES AND STOP PRICE GOUGING US!”

Some players say the move will lead to people spending a lot of V-Bucks on skins that should only be classed as Uncommon.
While others never paid much attention to the rarity system when purchasing skins to where anyway.
