It’s called photo albums, and they’re well worth setting up.

They allow you to easily place iPhone photos into manageable categories.

That makes it very simple to quickly track down an image you want.

You could make albums like “family”, “pets” or “summer holiday 2022”.

Once you’ve created an album, you can edit its name at any time.

Simply navigate into the album, select the three-dots icon in the top-right corner, and then tap Rename Album.

How to add photos to iPhone photo album

You’ll add photos when you first create an album.

But it’s also possible to add more photos to an album at any time.

Here’s the easiest way to do that…

  • 1. Go into your Photos app
  • 2. Now select Albums > Recents
  • 3. Press Select in the top-right corner
  • 4. Tap on any photos you want to add to an album
  • 5. Now tap the Share button (a square with an upwards arrow) in the bottom left
  • 6. Next choose Add to Album
  • 7. Then tap the album you want to add photos to

You can also change the lead image of the album – rather than using whatever the default first photo was.

How to delete iPhone photo album

It’s possible to delete an iPhone photo album at any time.

Here’s what to do…

  • 1. Open your Photos app
  • 2. Choose albums at the bottom of the screen
  • 3. Now tap See All in the top-right
  • 4. Choose Edit in the top-right corner
  • 5. Now tap on the red circle for any albums you want to delete
  • 6. Next choose Select Album

Importantly, you won’t lose the photos within the album – they’ll stay saved to your iPhone.

My four-year-old daughter hates her name - people say it's unusual but I love it
I’m engaged to someone who lives 7000 miles away - I send her £400 a month

But the album itself will be deleted, so you’ll lose any of your photo curation.

If you ever delete photos from an album, make sure to choose Remove From Album and not Delete. This will protect your images from absolute deletion.
