MORRISONS has slashed the price of petrol and diesel as supermarkets ramp up their price war.
The supermarket chain has cut an average of 6p a litre from its pump prices over the last week.

It comes after Asda became the first supermarket to slash the price of fuel.
While Sainsbury’s cut its fuel prices last week in line with Asda by an average of 5p.
Tesco has cut the price of petrol by 6.5p a litre and diesel by 4.5p.
The Sun previously reported that Morrisons had been cutting costs at selected forecourts, but it has now confirmed it will be rolled out across the UK.
Andrew Ball, fuel operations manager at Morrisons, said: “It’s the summer holidays and we know how tough the current cost of living is for our customers.
“So we hope this fuel price reduction will help motorists to save money at this challenging time.”

Retailers have been criticised for “cutting prices too slowly”, despite the average price of petrol falling by 9p in July.
The wholesale cost – which is the price of fuel when it arrives at the forecourts – of unleaded has dropped to 131.75p per litre on average.
Drivers are currently paying an average of 183p per litre at the pump.
The RAC slammed the big four supermarkets by claiming they have failed to reduce prices in line with wholesale costs.
That’s despite several of the supermarket giants lowering prices recently.
Experts have advised motorists to look out for independent petrol stations who are under-cutting big names with smaller prices.
A Texaco petrol station in Walkden, Greater Manchester claimed to be the “cheapest petrol station” in the UK after selling unleaded petrol at 159.9p a litre.
It caused hundreds of drivers to queue up to fill up the cars for less at the garage.
While earlier this month, drivers rushed to a Shell garage at Trago Mills in Devon after unleaded petrol was being sold at 164.9p a litre.
