SHOPPERS can get their hands on a classic Easter treat for FREE this Friday, and all they have to do is head on down to Morrisons.
The supermarket is giving away 10,000 hot cross buns to kick start the bank holiday weekend.
You’ll only be able to claim the freebie on Good Friday though, and it’s only redeemable in-store.
That means no chance of free bakery goods sneaking into your online basket, so you’ll have to take a trip down to your local Morrisons for a bite.
Use the supermarket’s locator tool to find your closest branch.
Morrisons is set to hand out the freebies in 450 of those stores after bakers whip up fresh batches on Friday morning.
Normally the store’s Market Street hot cross buns cost shoppers 69p for a pack of four.
But you don’t have to spend anything in-store to claim one on Friday.
The buns will simply be handed out at random by Morrisons staff throughout the day.
But that also means you’re not strictly guaranteed a freebie on your visit.
They’ll be subject to availability at your local store, and once all 10,000 have been snapped up by hungry shoppers, the giveaway will be over.
If you’re feeling peckish on Friday you might want to call ahead to check with your local bakery team that there’s any left, to save disappointment.
Jacob Cox, bakery manager at Morrisons, said: “Easter is a time to share and celebrate and we wanted to do something that would put a smile on customers’ faces.
“We know hot cross buns are a favourite at this time of year, which is why we’re giving away our traditional Market Street version for customers to enjoy on us.”
On Good Friday and Saturday April 16, Morrisons stores will remain open as usual.
Shoppers can normally visit a store between 7am and 11pm – but its hours will change over the Easter weekend.
That’s especially the case on Easter Sunday, as just like a number of other supermarket giants, Morrisons stores will be closed.
Morrisons told The Sun that the majority of its branches will be open again Easter Monday though, typically between 7am and 8pm, with the exception of a few which will be open until 10pm.
That’s plenty of time to bag other bargains though – especially if you miss out on the hot cross bun freebie.
One Morrisons worker revealed the tricks to make sure you get the best deals on chocolate at Easter.
And its also selling its own hot tub just in time for spring – a hot tub that’s £100 cheaper than Aldi’s too.
