MORRISONS is giving out free mince pies to care homes and gifts to struggling familiies.

It’s all part of the supermarket’s pledge to carry out 30,000 acts of kindness in local communities in the 12 days leading up to Christmas.

Today it is delivering 100,000 mine pies to residents in care homes.

In addition to this, it it will:

  • Give 10,000 treats to healthcare workers, police and firefighters
  • Donate 9,000 gifts to disadvantaged families
  • Give away 4,000 bouquets and mistletoe
  • Give 2,500 hampers to local heroes who’ve supported people in their area during the pandemic

Rebecca Singleton, community director at Morrisons said: “Small acts of kindness go a very long way.

“They can make our world feel like a kinder, happier and more caring place.

“Our Community Champions are going out into their local communities and spreading some good cheer.

“It’s the right thing to do in this difficult year when our stores and communities have been pulling together to look after each other.”

It follows a similar initiative from John Lewis and Waitrose to “Give a Little Love” as the retailers want to raise £4million for charity this year.

Its advertising campaign was inspired by little acts of kindness during the coronavirus panemic.
