MORRISONS customers have been left furious over tech issues with online shopping.

The problems have seen shoppers’ payments declined, some multiple times, resulting in their cards being blocked.

Despite having funds available in their bank account, card payments for grocery shops are not going through for some customers.

Payments when shopping in store appear not to be affected.

One woman affected by the issues said her card was blocked by her bank after Morrisons tried and failed to take payment multiple times.

She complained to the supermarket on Twitter: “You’ve lost a customer here. It’s taken me several hours over several days to sort this.

“You tried to take payment so many times my card was blocked & couldn’t be used – completely unacceptable, especially when the issue was your end rather than mine.”

Another annoyed shopper said that Morrisons “have attempted to take payment so many times my card issuer has blocked my card.”

The tech issues has persisted for some customers despite trying a different card, as the supermarket has suggested.

A Morrisons spokesperson said the issue, first reported by the Money Saving Expert website, was affecting a “limited number of customers”, but did not say how many exactly, or what was behind the problems.

The supermarket also said that the issue occurred in “the last few days” and “should largely be resolved by the end of last week.”

It said: “A limited number of customer cards have not been accepted in the last few days and we have been in ongoing contact with those customers and prioritised that they receive their orders.”

But several customers have reported the issue is still ongoing and affecting them today (March 28), and that it had been going on for weeks.

One fuming shopper has been flooded by text messages telling them their card has been declined on Monday morning.

They said: “TEXT 17 & 18 arrived to tell me you CAN’T TAKE PAYMENT….this has been going on for EIGHT DAYS NOW!!!!!!.”

Another complained: “Fourth time my payment has failed for another order.

“Four weeks of this added stress so decided to just order from another supermarket which is sad times.”

New online security checks have been added for millions of shoppers this month in a bid to increase protection from fraud, with warnings that payments could be declined.

We’ve asked Morrisons if the tech issues are connected to the Strong customer authentication (SCA) rules introduced on March 14 and will update when we hear back.
