While Sky Q customers could access some of the channel’s content, such as catch-up, it wasn’t possible to watch online exclusive box sets and early previews.

Sky Q viewers will now be able to choose from thousands of hours of huge favourites such as Gogglebox, The Inbetweeners, Married at First Sight, and The Great British Bake Off.

The full Channel 4 app was already available on Sky Glass and Sky Stream.

It’s not clear why the full app has taken so long to land on Sky Q, the firm’s most popular box.

But back in September the service also relaunched on Freesat after dramatically disappearing in 2018.

The latest move comes as traditional broadcasters look to a more digital first approach in face of competition with Netflix, Disney+ and Amazon Prime.

Earlier this year, Channel 4 announced that popular soap Hollyoaks would move to E4 with episodes premiering online a day before.

Channel 4 has also started trying out themed live TV channels streamed online, beginning with MAFS Live.

“With today’s launch we’re bringing the very best, personalised Channel 4 streaming experience to millions of Sky Q customers across the country,” said Karla Berry, Distribution & Partnerships Leader, Commercial Innovation, at Channel 4.

“Over the coming months viewers can expect to see us continue to enhance our presence across multiple platforms.”

Viewers welcomed the announcement, saying it is “great news” via social media.

“I can FINALLY STREAM BSL SIGNED CONTENT! long time coming,” one user wrote.
