COSY games are one of the biggest genres in video games today, with dozens of chilled out, low-pressure games being released every month.
These games, which can be found on every platform including PS5, Switch, and PC, often feature farming, and have a big focus on quaint living and completing ordinary tasks.
The cosy games genre has exploded in recent years, but its popularity can be traced back to one game which was released in 2016: Stardew Valley.
Stardew Valley is played by tens of millions of players, and now, almost 7 years after its release, the game has received one of its biggest updates ever.
Stardew Valley’s version 1.6 update is available now on PC via Steam, and brings with it hundreds of additions, changes, and new pieces of content.
Among the new additions is a new Desert Festival, which is a three-day event in the game’s Spring, and two mini fishing festivals, the Trout Derby and SquidFest.

The 1.6 update also introduces a new type of starting farm called the Meadowlands Farm, which has chewy blue grass, starts with a coop and two chickens, and focuses more on animal rearing than straight farming.
Players will also be able to have multiple pets, provided they’re able to max out their hearts with their starter pet, and pets will also sometimes give you gifts.
In addition to all of the above, there are also dozens of new items, new furnishings for your house, and more animals, among many other things.
The full change log for Stardew Valley 1.6 is absolutely gigantic, and covers hundreds and maybe even thousands of changes, including bug fixes and tweaks to make the game a bit better across the board.

So far the new update is only available on PC via Steam and Microsoft Store, but lone developer ConcernedApe says that the update will be available on Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox, and mobile platforms as soon as possible.
