DISCORD is rolling out a major upgrade that will let you play loads of new games right inside the app.
The popular chat app is loved by gamers as a way to talk to friends and share livestreams – but it’s about to become even more powerful.

Discord is going to begin letting app-makers create mini-games that live inside the app.
The app has already offered a small selection of in-app games, but now any developer can create their own.
This should mean a huge influx of in-app games – also known as Activities – that anyone can play inside their chat servers.
Discord is setting the update live on March 18, so the games should begin to trickle out in the coming months.
“Plenty of Discord Developers out there have had their eyes on Activities, wondering when they could create their own,” Discord explained.
“Discord Developers will be able to build new games and experiences that can be played directly on the platform with our new Embedded App SDK.”
Right now the apps and games will be restricted to living in specific servers.
But Discord has also promised to trial a way of adding games to your account.

This would let you bring your favorite games with you across servers, group chats, and DMs.
“App Developers can decide ahead of time whether or not their App is strictly for servers or if people can add their apps to their accounts,” Discord said.

Discord is a chat app that lets you send messages, make voice or video calls, share files, and even live-stream your screen.
It’s a lot like workplace app Slack, but Discord has become a major hit with gamers.
Users can set up their own servers, and even dedicate them to specific hobbies or interests.
Discord launched back in 2015, and now has an estimated 175 million monthly active users.
It’s available on Windows, macOS, Android, iOS, iPadOS, Linux, and also in web browsers.
