Police are responding to an “active shooting scene” at a hotel in Dearborn, Michigan.

The shooting was reported just before 2 p.m. Thursday at a Hampton Inn on Michigan Avenue.

A police spokesperson told NBC affiliate WDIV of Detroit that there is believed to be at least one victim in unknown condition. The shooter was not in custody but was “contained,” the spokesperson told WDIV.

The Detroit division of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives responded to the scene and urged people to avoid the area.

“There are still shots being fired by the suspect. Troopers and officers are working on clearing the entire area around the hotel,” Michigan State Police said in a tweet.
