What is Meta Connect?

Meta Connect is a major tech conference that takes place each year.

If the name didn’t give it away, Meta Connect is hosted by Facebook’s parent company: Meta.

Mark Zuckerberg and his teams use the event to showcase their new innovations.

For instance, last year’s Meta Connect put a heavy focus on virtual and augmented reality.

When is Meta Connect? How to watch it live

This year’s Meta Connect is a two-day event running from Wednesday, September 27 to Thursday, September 28.

But the bulk of the news will come on day one.

The main keynote for the event is on September 27 at 10am in California.

That means you’ll want to tune in at 1pm in New York or 5pm in London.

Meta Connect news – what to expect

We’re expecting news on two main fronts: metaverse and AI.

The headline news for the former will likely be the Meta Quest 3.

It’s the “cheaper” new virtual reality headset that costs $499.

Meta has already announced the gadget but we don’t know much about it.

It’s also rumoured that we might see a new pair of Meta’s smart glasses – the ones built in collaboration with Ray-Ban.

Perhaps the bigger announcement will be around AI.

Meta is expected to follow the trend of AI chatbots by launching its own version(s).

It’s rumoured that Meta has quietly prepared a number of different chatbots with different personalities.

These chatbots will likely be available inside various Meta apps like Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp.

This will help Meta better compete with AI titans like Microsoft and Google – as well as ChatGPT-creator OpenAI.
