People urged to brace for floods, gales and snow, with parts of England expecting 200mm of rain

The Met Office has warned of “danger to life” caused by floods, gales and snow as Storm Christoph heads to the UK, with people warned to brace themselves for a period of unsettled weather.

An amber warning for rain was issued for northern, central and eastern parts of England from Tuesday, with flooding expected, while a lower yellow warning was given for Northern Ireland, Wales, southern Scotland and the rest of England.
