MCDONALD’S is selling milkshakes again after being forced to take them off the menu due to supply chain problems.

The fast food giant confirmed today that milkshakes are back in stock, following weeks of disruption.

Bottled drinks are also available again after being temporarily removed from sale.

A McDonald’s spokesperson said: “We’re delighted to confirm shakes and bottled drinks will be returning to our restaurants in England, Scotland and Wales from Monday.

“Our milkshakes, made with fresh British organic semi-skimmed milk, are a very popular menu item so we’ve worked hard with our distribution centres to return them to the menu.

“We thank our customers for their patience shown whilst we temporarily removed them from sale.”

McDonald’s ran out of milkshakes last month, blaming a lack of lorry drivers for the problem.

It was also temporarily unable to sell any bottled drinks at its 1,250 branches across the UK too.

A McDonald’s insider told The Sun in August that the chain has had to “prioritise our core items over heavier, bulky ones”.

That means milkshakes and bottled drinks were pulled from the menu to ensure food and fizzy drinks were available.

The burger chain wasn’t the only UK company affected by shortages and supply chain issues.

KFC, Greggs, Nando’s and Costa Coffee have all struggled with delivery problems over the last few weeks.

Experts have estimated the UK has a shortage of 100,000 lorry drivers forcing many restaurants, takeaways and coffee shops to take items off the menu.

The shortage is blamed on a range of factors including staff self-isolating due to Covid and European drivers returning home after Brexit.
