The Double Big Mac returns on October 6

McDonald’s got its hungry fans excited earlier today when it posted a tweet that said the Double Big Mac is coming back.

Social media users responded with excited emojis and one described it as “music to my ears.”

The chain has now confirmed that the burger will return to the menu from October 6.

The Double Big Mac costs £4.19 on its own or £5.69 as a medium meal with a side and a drink.

It features four 100% beef patties, a slice of cheese, lettuce, onion and pickles plus the Big Mac sauce.

It is one of six new items on the menu from Wednesday, October 6.

Others include a Crunchie McFlurry from 99p and Nacho Cheese Wedges from £1.89.

You will have to act fast though as the Double Big Mac and all the new items will only be around for six weeks.

These items replace the Big Tasty, Chicken BBQ Smokehouse and Mozzarella Dippers which joined the limited-edition menu back in August.

You can find your nearest McDonald’s chain using the restaurant locator tool on its website – and check what time it opens.

McDonald’s serves breakfast every day from 6am onwards until 11am.

It switches to the normal menu after that, serving meals such as burgers, chicken nuggets and more.

After temporarily running out earlier this year, McDonald’s favourite milkshakes are back on the menu too.

What are the new items on the McDonald’s menu?

If you don’t fancy venturing out, McDonald’s dishes can also be ordered and delivered through UberEats and JustEat.

The brand also made its McDelivery service available through the My McDonald’s app in August.

The My McDonald’s app is available to download for free from the Google Play store for Android phones and Apple’s app store for iPhone users.

Go to the order tab on the app and you can now choose delivery or pick up.

You will need to enter the address you want your food to arrive at and you can include additional delivery instructions if needed.

There is still a pick up option where you choose the nearest restaurant you want to collect your food from.
