MCDONALD’s fans are not happy with a new addition to the fast food giant’s menu.
The chain released four new items last week including halloumi fries and a burger called the The Spicy Spanish Stack.
The burger costs £5.39 and has two beef patties, chilli cheddar, red onion, spicy tomato sauce and lettuce served up in a warm paprika bun.
It will set you back £7.49 for a meal – £1.80 more than a Big Mac meal which cost £5.69.
But while it sounds tasty on paper, disappointed customers have taken to social media to complain, calling it “bland” and “vile”.
Taking to Twitter, one disappointed customer said: “Spanish stack is the worst burger from McDonald’s in years, dry, bland, no spice and has nothing to do with Spain..”
Another fumed: “Nah the Spanish stack from McDonald’s is VILE fam”.
The burger’s lack of spice was the main disappointment for many fans.
One person said: “McDonald’s new Spanish Spicy stack, as spicy as a Vanilla ice cream with whipped cream on top.”
A spokesperson from McDonald’s said: “Customer satisfaction is a priority of ours and we’re always disappointed when we hear of any experiences that fall short of our customers’ expectations.
“However, the comments referenced make up a tiny proportion of the thousands of customers served each day, and overall feedback for the product has been overwhelmingly positive.
“We’re always keen to hear from our customers and would encourage them to get in touch with our Customer Services team.”
It isn’t the first time that the chain has felt the heat over putting out “mild” food that has been billed as spicy.
Last year, McDonald’s launched its McSpicy burger – which it said was its hottest ever.

But fans were quick to call out the menu item for its “underwhelming” and “mild” flavour.
One underwhelmed customer said at the time: “Very mild. Next time, use ghost pepper #McSpicy.”
The introduction of the Spicy Spanish Stack burger came with the addition of two other menu items – halloumi fries and The Chicken Fiesta.
Each burger will set you back £5.39 for the item by itself, but you can get it as part of a meal for £7.49.
A portion of halloumi fries will cost you £2.49 on its own, or £6.49 as part of a share box.
Last week, the fast food chain revealed it was hiking prices.
The much-loved 99p cheeseburger went up in price for the first time in 14 years, and now costs £1.19.
McDonald’s is the latest in a line of restaurants and retailers which have put their prices up.
Companies have blamed soaring costs, supply issues and the Covid crisis, saying they have had to pass these rising prices on to customers.
McDonalds said price hikes would add between 10p and 20p to the cost of a number of the menu items most impacted by inflation.
