The discount is available to any NHS workers who sign up to the McDonald’s App with an NHS email address.

In July 2021, McDonald’s announced that it was thanking emergency services for their hard work during the pandemic with the 20% off.

It was due to end at the end of 2021 but was then extended for the whole of 2022 before being extended again to the end of March 2023.

The fast food chain has now confirmed that it will continue to be available to all NHS staff after March 31 too and there is no end date currently.

It comes after blog NHS Discount Offers warned that the scheme was set to finish in just a few weeks.

Last year, Asda extended its Blue Light Card discount to the end of March after it was due to be scrapped on December 31.

Workers can get the discount when they buy main menu items through the McDonald’s app.

Steve Bater, spokesman at NHS Money Saving blog NHS Discount Offers said: “The cost of living crisis continues and every little helps as we look to save money wherever we can, it’s really appreciated that McDonalds have been helping NHS staff save.”

He added that the McDonald’s discount has been one of the most popular food discounts for NHS staff over the past year.

All active NHS workers with an NHS email address can get the 20% off.

Police, Armed Forces, Social Care, and Fire service workers are also eligible according to NHS Discounts Offers.

How do I get the McDonald’s discount?

You have to download the My McDonald’s app to access your discount.

You can download the app for free on the App Store or Google Play.

The offer will automatically be applied to accounts that are registered with an NHS email address.

If you’ve already signed up with your personal email address, it is possible to change this in the settings section of the app.

You’ll have to wait around 48 hours for the offer to show up in the “deals” section of the app.

When you order using the app, you can either choose to collect your food from your nearest store or opt for a home delivery.

If you decide to get your meal delivered, you will have to pay an additional fee.

You can find your nearest McDonald’s branch using the online store locator.

You can only use it once a week and it refreshes every Monday.

What other discounts are available for NHS staff?

Meanwhile, NHS workers who are looking for further discounts at thousands of restaurants, shops and venues can sign up for a Blue Light Card.

You can buy a physical copy of the card for £4.99 or a digital card is free. Once you’ve got one it lasts two years.

Police, fire and other public sector workers can also apply for the card.

You can grab discounts on clothes, holidays, insurance and cars.

Shops that take part in the scheme include Asda, JD Sportsm Starbucks, Dominos and New Look.
