But there’s one major catch – you will only unlock the £100 if you buy one of hundreds of qualifying electrical products in-store or online first.

You also have to be signed up to John Lewis’ My John Lewis loyalty scheme.

There are more than 300 items to choose, from brands such as Panasonic, Sony and Samsung, MoneySavingExpert.com explained in its latest newsletter.

The cheapest item you can buy online to qualify for the £100 gift card is a Dyson Supersonic hair dryer with gift case for £330.

Customers looking to snap up the gift card have until October 31 to make a purchase.

They will then be able to redeem it between December 5 and December 18, although it will expire after two years.

The gift card will be emailed to you within seven days of your purchase and is valid at John Lewis and Waitrose online or in store.

The voucher will be sent to you by a company called “VEX Promotions”.

Remember, you should only buy one of the qualifying items if you had planned on it already.

You shouldn’t buy one for the sake of it as it could leave you recklessly out of pocket.

How to save money at John Lewis and Waitrose

Waitrose and John Lewis aren’t known for being the cheapest of retailers, but if you’re heading there some time soon there’s a few tricks you can use to save a bit of cash.

Waitrose customers signed up to its loyalty scheme can bag a free hot tea or coffee in-store.

You just have to bring a reusable cup to fill up at one of the supermarket’s self-serve machines and then scan your myWaitrose card.

Next, it’s worth looking out for yellow sticker bargains which show when an item has been reduced in price.

Workers add them to products that are slightly damaged or coming to the end of their best-before date.

Meanwhile, John Lewis shoppers can save money by signing up to its loyalty scheme – My John Lewis.

It’s free to sign up, offering you money off your first buy and entry into competitions where you can win up to £1,000 worth of items.

Customers get access to exclusive discounts too.

You can download the scheme as an app on to any smartphone via the Apple App Store or Google Play.

John Lewis shoppers can take advantage of the retailer’s price drop promise too.
