MARKS AND SPENCER have been called out online over one of their latest Christmas Party foods.
M&S who is known for their popular foods such as Percy Pigs and Colin The Caterpillar cakes received a backlash over the new food item.
Customers of the popular supermarket called the chain a ‘disgrace’ over their Posh Cheesy On Toast.
According to the item description, the 10-item piece is made up of brioche bread topped with haricot beans in a tomato sauce.
It is then finished with a creamy mature cheddar sauce which can be cooked and served in 12minutes.
The new item is already available to buy in M&S stores and online delivery services such as Ocado, costing £5 for the canape.
Fans took to Twitter to call out the supermarket’s latest food offering.
One person said: “Was I dreaming or did anyone witness the M&S party food advert that included poshed-up tiny cheesy beans on toast?”
Another commented: “Are M&S seriously beans on toast as a Christmas party food? Has the UK sunk that low?”
A third wrote: “This isn’t just a rip-off. This is an M&S rip-off. Cheesy beans on toast for a fiver as party food? Pull the other one, chaps.”
A fourth simply said: “M&S party food. Cheesy beans on toast. Really?”
Another added: Now this is just s**t. Look at the amount of plastic, it is ethically obscene and an insult to good, homemade, snack food @marksandspencer disgrace”
Other items included in this year’s M&S Christmas Party range include Crispy Beer Burger Spring Rolls, Chicken Molten Cheddar Cheese Profiteroles, Dirty Burger Doughballs and Duck Mince Pies.
Alternatively, you can make this yourself by buying a loaf of bread for 36p and a tin of baked beans for 21p from Sainsbury’s, not forgetting 59p cheese slices from Asda.
