LONGTIME Meta staffer Sheryl Sandberg has left the company in a less than graceful exit.

Mark Zuckerberg and Meta are reportedly investigating his right-hand woman’s use of company resources for her wedding.

Meta is conducting an investigation to determine if Sandberg misappropriated company resources to plan her upcoming nuptials, according to reports.

The probe coincides with Sandberg’s resignation from Meta and the company’s expensive pivot to the metaverse.

The Wall Street Journal reported the investigation into Sandberg is ongoing.

“None of this has anything to do with her personal decision to leave,” a Meta spokeswoman said.

Business Insider reported that the wedding probe was a byproduct of another investigation into Sandberg.

In 2016 and 2019, Sandberg pressured the news outlet Daily Mail into dropping a salacious story about Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick, whom she was in a relationship with at the time.

Meta denied that Sandberg threatened Daily Mail or meddled in their editorial decisions.

The Wall Street Journal covered the story closely and wrote “Some executives inside Facebook assert that any intervention by Ms. Sandberg over a news article, no matter her specific words, could well be perceived as a threat.”

Operationally, Sandberg has not been close to Meta’s top priorities.

She has not been involved in the company’s initiative to grow the metaverse.

Sources told the WSJ that Sandberg feels like a “punching bag” at Meta.

“She sees herself as someone who has been targeted, been tarred as a woman executive in a way that would not happen to a man. Gendered or not, she’s sick of it,” a Sandberg confidant told The New York Post.

Sandberg is engaged to marry Tom Bernthal – the CEO of a marketing agency and the brother of actor Jon Bernthal.

Sandberg spent 14 years as a Meta executive and has been credited with developing Meta’s advertising-based business model, which supplies the company with hundreds of billions of dollars in revenue.
