According to a Mark Aisthorpe, appearing on the BBC’s Great British Menu was considerably more nerve-wracking than cooking for a full restaurant.
He’s been telling Derbyshire Live about the whole ordeal. He remarked that he didn’t sleep for a week before filming but that the staff and other chefs were all excellent and that it was a pleasure and a great honor to be on the show. They didn’t know who else was in the kitchen until they arrived.

On Great British Menu 2022, Mark Aisthorpe is one of four chefs representing the North East and Yorkshire.

Luke French of Sheffield owns Jöro in Kelham Island and has a Michelin plate and three AA rosettes, Yorkshire-born Liz Cottam, whose restaurant Home received a Michelin plate shortly after opened in 2017, and Bobby Geetha, chef-patron of Fleur Café in Leeds, are among his competitors.
He was born in New Zealand and has lived in the United Kingdom for the past twenty-four years.
Aisthorpe began his career as a member of the University of Sheffield catering team before moving on to Marcus Wareing’s Cliveden House and Pétrus.
He worked at Cliveden House for Gordon Ramsay and Marcus Wareing, then in 2016, he and Petrus opened The Bulls Head in Holymoorside, Derbyshire.
His cuisine is hyper-seasonal, with daily menus and every ingredient sourced close to the restaurant as possible, whether foraged, from neighboring farms, or the restaurant’s garden.
Mark is drawing inspiration from his hometown for his menu honoring 100 years of British broadcasting, with dishes inspired by Heartbeat and ChuckleVision.

Is The Chef On Great British Menu 2022 Sick? Illness & Health
Bulls Head Holymoorside Chef Mark Aisthorpe doesn’t seem sick; he competes in the Great British Menu 2022.
He must be alright because he is scheduled to appear on the BBC Two show on Tuesday, March 8.
There is also no official report of him being ill or anything else concerning his health.
If there is a problem with his health, the media may report on what has happened to him thus far.
