Just follow these tips from Gumtree’s chief marketing officer Hannah Rouch . . .

NOW IS THE TIME: In the past month there has been a 12 per cent increase in the number of Barbie-related searches on classified ad site Gumtree.

For example, a Queen Elizabeth II Barbie doll is going for £400. So now is a really good time to think about selling.

KEEP THEM BOXED: In order for Barbies to hold their value and sell for a good amount, they need to be well looked after and in good condition.

It’s a great idea to keep them in their boxes to ensure they do not get damaged. Boxed Barbies also fetch a higher price anyway.

REVEAL DETAILS: When listing a Barbie, make sure the title is as descriptive as possible. It needs to include keywords relevant to the particular type of doll or its age.

If you have a great story about how you came across your Barbie, add it in. Buyers like to know as much as possible — and it will increase the chance of making a sale.

TAKE A SNAP: Make sure you take eye-catching photos of your doll. It is great to show different angles so that potential buyers are reassured.

Take the images in daylight, ensuring they are sharp and bright.

PRICE IT RIGHT: If you are unsure how to price your Barbie, it is worth looking at similar listings for guidance.

Take age and condition into account — and remember you can always reduce your price later if the item hasn’t sold.

RAID THE TOY BOX: Toys are consistently one of our highest performing categories.

Our Circular Economy Report revealed parents make an average of £226 by selling pieces they no longer need, so it’s a great way to boost your bank balance.
