Iceland launched its Bonus Card scheme in April 2021.

It rewards users for saving money for their shop and gives them access to exclusive discounts.

You are given cashback each time you load money onto the card, rewarding shoppers for putting money aside for their food shop.

Cardholders can get £1 back for each £20 they transfer onto the card and you can win prizes and get a birthday gift.

Shoppers can signup for a digital card online and download it through a smartphone app or you can get a physical one by visiting your local Iceland store.

More than 1 million people have downloaded the digital Bonus Card app.

The Bonus Card could previously only be used for in-store purchase though and is now being rolled out online.

That means users can access the same discounts and offers in-store and when ordering their shopping for home delivery through the Iceland website.

This saves you time on travelling to do your weekly shop and means you can access Bonus Card savings and offers from the comfort of your own home.

Iceland regularly updates the deals that are available for shoppers.

Similar to the Tesco Clubcard scheme, Iceland’s Bonus Card users can purchase products for a cheaper price than non-users.

The savings are worth up to half price in some cases.

For example, a box of Birds Eye 44 Chicken Nuggets will cost £2 for Bonus Card users.

A pack of Linda McCartney’s Six Vegetarian Sausages costs £2.20 normally but Bonus Card users can dig in for £1.10.

There are also savings on chips, ice-cream and washing products.

You can view the latest deals on the Iceland website.

Bonus Card users can also get free delivery for in store orders over £25 and online orders over £40.

There is a £3 delivery charge for orders below these values.

You can find your nearest Iceland using its store finder.

How does Iceland’s Bonus Card compare to other supermarket loyalty schemes?

Other supermarket or retailer schemes reward you based on how much you spend rather than what you save.

Sainsbury’s shoppers can earn points with a Nectar card for purchases at its supermarkets, petrol stations and other retailers such as Argos.

You need to spend £1 in a Sainsbury’s store for one Nectar point and you get one Nectar point for every litre of fuel purchased at its petrol stations.

At most of Nectar’s online partner stores, you’ll collect two points for each £1 you spend.

One Nectar Card point is then worth 0.5p, so you need 200 Nectar points to save £1 to spend.

Once you have enough points you can turn them into vouchers for your next Sainsbury’s food shop or to buy things such as plane, train or cinema tickets.

Similarly, Tesco Clubcard users get one point for every £1 spent in store or online that can then be spent on special offers and to access cheaper and reduced items.

One point equals 1p, so 150 points gets you £1.50, for example.

There is also a Boots Advantage card that gives you four points per £1 spent online or in store.

One point equals 1p so 100 Boots points are worth £1.

Superdrug shoppers can also earn points and access discounts with its Beautycard.
