Limited menus for McDonald’s, KFC, Nando’s and Greggs explained

LIMITED menus are still in place at many of your favourite food places because of coronavirus.

Here’s what’s going on at McDonald’s, KFC, Nando’s and Greggs, and what food you can (and can’t) get right now.

Many fast food chains and restaurants are offering limited menus for safety reasons.

The more food on offer, the more staff they need to make it, so streamlining the menu means they can serve food more safely.

You won’t be able to eat in at any of these places as it’s not allowed under the the coronavirus lockdown rules.

But they are offering takeaway delivery and pick up in store and drive-thru where available.

McDonald’s has been closed for in-store pick ups in the latest lockdown, but revealed plans opening again for walk-ins.

McDonald’s

McDonald’s has been offering a reduced menu ever since it reopened after the coronavirus crisis first hit.

More items have been added to the menu since then, but the full line-up is still not back yet.

A limited breakfast menu means customers are still waiting for the return of the breakfast bagel and the breakfast wrap at the golden arches.

On the main menu the spicy chicken snack wrap and grilled chicken wrap are not back yet either.

The food chain is also still adding limited edition items, like the double Big Mac at Christmas and the Grand Big Mac which is available this week.

If you want to order for home delivery, McDonald’s has partnered with both Uber Eats and Just Eat – although not all restaurants offer both services.

To see if your local McDonald’s delivers, type your postcode into the Uber Eats or Just Eat website.

But keep in mind you’ll be charged a delivery fee on top of your order – this can vary depending on how far away you live from the restaurant but can be as much as £3.99.

You can find where your nearest McDonald’s is by using its restaurant finder tool. McDonald’s has around 1,300 locations in the UK and Ireland.

If you have a car, you are able to use drive-thru lanes as normal.

As of December, McDonald’s fans can also order in advance through the My McDonald’s app and have their items brought to their car window in a numbered bay at all branches.

It doesn’t cost more to use this service.

Greggs

Greggs reopened after the covid crisis first hit with a reduced menu last summer.

The pasty shop has a “reduced range” and that means not all your favourites are back on the menu just yet.

A Greggs spokesperson said “We are currently operating with a reduced menu in all of our shops and we continue to review our offer.”

You can see what IS on the menu on their website, though this can depend on local availability.

You can grab a Greggs in person – but you can’t eat in store.

Before you make a trip, it’s best to check when your local shop opens and closes by using the chain’s store locator.

You can also use the chain’s click and collect service too, you’ll have to sign up for an account, which you can do here.

Alternatively, you can also order through Just Eat, though there are additional fees for delivery which can depend on where you are.

KFC

KFC is one of the first restaurants to get its full menu up and running again since the pandemic.

KFC’s branches reopened last summer with a smaller than usual menu.

Since then, it’s brought back more items like Krushems milkshakes and rice boxes and now all of its menu items are available.

The chicken shop’s vegan burger returned to menus in January and will be available until the end of February.

KFC restaurants remain open for takeaway, click and collect, drive-thru and home delivery.

Home delivery is operated via Deliveroo, but keep in mind you’ll pay extra for delivery depending on how far away you live from your nearest KFC.

You can see what’s on your local menu through Deliveroo as items can vary from branch to branch.

Click and collect is free. It also doesn’t cost extra to use drive-thru lanes.

KFC has around 900 restaurants in the UK – use its online branch finder tool to see where your closest one is.

Nando’s

Nando’s has a limited menu during covid.

The spicy chicken restaurant said on its website: “We’ve had to limit our menu slightly whilst we’re promoting social distancing in our restaurants.

“We have reduced the number of people working to help them to stay more than 2m away from each other, which has meant we’ve needed to reduce our menu slightly.”

You can’t eat in at Nando’s restaurants under the lockdown rules, but you can get takeaway, either picking up yourself or getting delivery via Deliveroo.

Click and collect is free, while Deliveroo charges vary depending on what day you order and how far away you live from the restaurant.
