A BARGAIN supermarket has slashed its prices on 30 essentials as grocery inflation hits its lowest level this year.
Lidl has announced price cuts on many of its items in a move that is sure to please its customers.

Among the items reduced is the Meadow Fresh mixed leaf salad, 200g, it was previously 99p and is now 95p.
Also reduced is the Freshona blueberries and blackberries, 400g, this items was previously £2.35, and is now reduced down to £2.29.
Other items include alcohol, suncream, tinned tuna, fish fingers and household cleaner – we have the full list below.
The cuts come as grocery inflation dropped to 16.5% for the four weeks to June 11, 2023.
It is the lowest level this year but still the sixth highest monthly figure since 2008, according to the latest grocery market share figures from Kantar.
Fraser McKevitt, head of retail and consumer insight at Kantar, said: “This is the lowest rate of grocery price inflation we’ve seen in 2023, which will be a relief to shoppers and retailers.
“But prices rising at 16.5% isn’t something to celebrate and it’s still the sixth highest monthly figure in the past 15 years.
“Price rises are now being compared to the increasing rate of grocery inflation seen last summer, which means that it should continue to fall in the coming months, a welcome result for everyone.”

He added that rising grocery prices are among the top five financial worries that consumers have, narrowly behind rising energy bills.
And savvy shoppers have been switching to own label lines as a way to “swerve” the full force of price increases.

Lidl is not the only supermarket that has been reducing its prices in recent weeks.
Morrisons has dropped the price of hundreds of items including, bread rolls, cornflakes and cheese.
And just recently Tesco announced hundreds of price cuts to its own label range.
It’s important to note that just because a supermarket drops its prices, it doesn’t mean you can’t find the items cheaper somewhere else.
We price checked some of the items on Lidl’s list against other supermarkets.
It does look like Lidl is very competitive on its pricing for the pack of four tuna chunks in brine, now priced at £2.49.
The closest supermarket at the time we checked was Sainsbury’s who is currently pricing its own brand tuna chunks in brine at £2.65 for a pack of four.
Birds Eye crispy fish fingers are now priced at £1.79 in Lidl.
For the same pack size in Asda they are slightly more expensive at £2.00, it was the same in Iceland and Tesco.
The multigrain farmhouse loaf is also a very competitive price at £1.15, however we did see one priced at £1.09 on Aldi’s website.
Comparing prices across different shops is key to finding the best deal.
Websites such as trolley.co.uk allow you to compare the prices of particular items at retailers across the UK.
Plus, using Google Shopping can also help you find the lowest cost around.
If you’re out and about, you could even use the Google Lens feature to take a quick snap of the item and see what other shops are selling it for.
How to save on your supermarket shop
There are plenty of other ways to save on your supermarket shop.
You can try looking out for yellow or red stickers on products which show when they’ve been reduced.
If the food is fresh you’ll have to eat it fast, or freeze it to have another time.
Sometimes even timing your shop to stock up just as items are discounted on the shelves can help you get the best bargains – lots of shoppers have said this is in the evening typically.
Making a list could save you some money too as you’ll be less likely to make any rash purchases when you get to the supermarket.
Going own brand can be one easy way to save hundreds of pounds a year on your food bills too.
That means going for “own” or “value” type products instead of “finest” or “luxury” lines.
Plenty of supermarkets run wonky veg and fruit schemes as well where you can get cheap prices if they’re misshapen or imperfect.
For example, Lidl runs its Waste Not scheme offering boxes of 5kg of fruit and vegetables for just £1.50.
Parents can get up to £442 in Healthy Start vouchers that they can use at the supermarket, on food and more for their children, for example.
Plus, many councils offer supermarket vouchers as part of the Household Support fund – so you can make your money go further with the extra support available.
