HOUSEHOLDS looking to cut back on their outgoings are rushing to buy an energy-saving gadget from Lidl.
Energy bills stand at £2,500 for the average household despite the government’s energy price guarantee discount.
So it means shoppers are looking for ways to stay warm without having to put the heating on.
And Lidl is selling a double-size Silentnight comfort control electric blanket for £24.99 in its middle aisle that can help slash bills.
The item comes with a three-year warranty and three heat settings.
Bear in mind, Lidl’s website says it takes 15 minutes to heat up the blanket to 37°C.
It is BEAB-approved, which means it meets electrical safety standards.
Shoppers have been full of praise for the blanket on Silent Night’s website.
One said: “It’s the first time I’ve ever indulged in an electric blanket so I’m getting used to it but it’s fantastic and I don’t know why I haven’t got one before.”
Another said: “Wow, never had an electric blanket before.

“I have to say that during the winter this has been a godsend. Worth every penny.”
While a third added: “This is my first ever electric blanket and it’s so good.
“Easy to fit, easy to use. Switch on two hours before bed and lap up the marvellous warmth.”
Lidl doesn’t do delivery so you will have to head down to your nearest branch to see if they have the blanket in their middle aisle.
You can find out where your nearest branch is by typing “Lidl branch locator” into Google and clicking through to Lidl’s website where it has a tool.
You just have to enter your postcode and the tool will tell you where your closest supermarket is and its opening hours.
Of course, you should always shop around when looking to pick up the best deal on a product.
Don’t rush into buying something just because you think the price seems low.
You can use price comparison websites to see if a product is cheaper elsewhere.
Pricespy.co.uk for example lets you compare prices on trainers, tech and more across 6100 shops.
If you are looking to compare high street supermarket food prices, trolley.co.uk is useful.
Alternatively, you can type the name of the product into Google and then hit the “shopping” tab to see how much it is selling for elsewhere.
There isn’t anywhere cheaper than Lidl selling the blanket after we looked though.
Argos is selling one, but it’s £50 and that’s without factoring in delivery.
Silent Night is selling the blanket for £45, while Marks and Spencer has it priced at £40.
In other news, Aldi has announced it will be giving thousands of workers a pay rise within weeks.
It comes after the discounter revealed it is axing deliveries from its website.
Plus, Lidl is selling an £8 item that’s perfect for children and can save on energy bills.
