AN IMAGE said to show a “cancelled” Call of Duty Warzone map has turned up online.
The controversial “leaked” map covers an area in Russia’s Ural Mountains – a locale that already features in Call of Duty Cold War.

Several Fireteam: Dirty Bomb maps are already set in the Ural Mountains.
And it’s been widely rumoured that these large maps would be merged into a mega-map for a future Warzone update.
Warzone has been set in Verdansk since it launched in early 2020.
But a new leak suggests that this large Ural Mountains map has actually been scrapped.
It was posted by Twitter leaker @_Nanikos_, and appears to be a photograph of a map on a separate screen.
“Never mind f*** it, I’m posting it anyway,” the leaker said.
“If this account gets f***ed by Activision so be it lol.
“FYI: This is the cut Ural map, this is not the one that is coming on the 22nd into Warzone.”
In the map we can see familiar Ural Mountains locations like the Ski Slopes and the Sanatorium.
Another reputable Call of Duty tipster called @ModernWarzone also backed up the leak.
“Can confirm the authenticity of the Ural Mountains leaked map overview from @_Nanikos_.
“If you’d like to see it go to their profile, not quote tweeting or posting it because it WILL be DMCA’d by Activision with the swiftness.”
But despite the claims of Activision legal action, the “leak” is still live on Twitter more than 24 hours later.
Latest rumours suggest that Warzone will be changing later this month, as part of the Season 3 update.
The update is expected to take place later in the month, and could see a brand new Call of Duty Warzone map introduced.
This update is tipped to shift Verdansk through time, changing some aspects while retaining some familiarity.
It’s possible that some parts of the “leaked” map may be integrated into the new version of Verdansk.
Call of Duty Warzone launched on March 10, 2020.
It’s a standalone free-to-play Call of Duty game that was originally part of Call of Duty Modern Warfare.
But it’s also integrated into the new Black Ops Cold War game.
The wildly popular game mode offers a Battle Royale experience like rival Fortnite.
Each game sees 150 players dropped onto an area called Verdansk, where they fight for survival to be the last person (or team) standing.
It’s currently available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and Microsoft Windows.
