Prices start from £73,895 for the 3-litre petrol 300 horse-power P300 all-wheel drive Auto X Dynamic SE model, up to £100,645 for the 400 horsepower AWD P400 petrol X trim. There are also 3.0-litre 300hp diesel options priced from £78,555 to £98,400.

The extended rear adds an additional 340mm, taking the full length up to nearly 5.4metres (5,358mm) and creating enough room for an extra three seats for three adults in the third row.

The Defender 130 provides up to 389litres of boot space even with the rear seats in place, and that expands to 2,291 litres when the two rear rows are folded down.

A five-seater version of the Defender 130 offers up to 2,516litres with the rear seats folded.

To mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, Land Rover is donating to Her Majesty and to the British Red Cross, of which she is patron, a specially commissioned new Defender 130 to support operations in the UK.

Child seat ISOFIX attachments are found on up to five of the passenger seats – on the outer seats of the second and third rows, as well as the front passenger seat.

Land Rover said: ‘The Defender 130 adds another dimension to the all-conquering family of all-terrain vehicles, with adventuring opportunities for up to eight adults across three rows of full-size seating.

‘It allows customers to effortlessly transport up to eight people across any terrain and is the ultimate demonstration of Defender’s breadth of talents.’

Land Rover added: ‘Defender’s familiar outline ensures generous headroom in all three rows.

‘Passengers in rows two and three also benefit from a small stadium rise, for superior visibility. Getting in to the third row is effortless, as the row two seats slide and fold forwards to provide wide access.’

Nick Collins, Executive Director, Vehicle Programmes, Land Rover, said: ‘The new Defender 130 brings a new dimension of capability to our most durable and rugged family of vehicles.

‘Its spacious interior transports up to eight people in supreme comfort, enabling unparalleled sophisticated adventuring opportunities for families.’
