Kevin Mayer, who had a short-lived stint as chief executive at TikTok and once was seen as a contender for the top job at Walt Disney Co., has joined investment firm Access Industries in an advisory role.

Access said Monday that Mr. Mayer will focus on its media-related businesses and identify new potential opportunities for the firm. Founded by the , Access has major investments in Warner Music Group, streaming services such as Deezer and other companies.
