HAPPY Easter! I hope you are having a great day with your families – and if not, you at least get to indulge in a chocolate egg or two.

But if you are at a loose end and need fun activities to keep people amused, here are some cheap ideas . . .

GET OUTDOORS: National Trust has scavenger hunts at its sites all over the country.

For example, at Moseley Old Hall, Staffs, grab a trail pack for £3 and get scavenging with a potential choc treat reward at the end.

Book at nationaltrust.org.uk.

GO COLOURFUL: If the family will be indoors today, you could download and print out free spring colouring-in templates from crayola.com.

There is a huge selection to choose from, including “Easter bingo” pages you can take on a walk, helping the kids cross off things they see such as eggs, bunnies and flowers.

CHEESY EASTER: A big trend this year is the Easter cheesecake in half an egg.

They cost from £19.99 at Cutter & Squidge, the online cake shop, but are so easy to make at home.

You need a hollow Easter egg, 200g cream cheese, 30g icing sugar and a dash of vanilla essence.

Blend everything together except the egg, which you need to carefully crack into two halves, then fill the shell with the mix.

Top with chunks of your favourite choc bar. Those ingredients from Aldi will come in under a fiver, so £2.50 per portion between two of you.

GO POTTY: Check out facebook.com/sunsavers to see my Easter craft video. Using simple basics from Wilko — string, cardboard, paint — the family can easily make cute pompom bunny toppers for plant pots.

With a little adult help, they can look really expensive. But they cost only a few quid.

I’d call that a win-win.
