JACK Black has been linked to a movie based on the best-selling game of all time.
The movie was previously announced by Warner Bros. and Jason Momoa was cast in a starring role.

A live-action movie based on Minecraft is set to begin filming in New Zealand soon.
Now according to Deadline, Jack Black will be joining the film in a leading role.
Black has apparently been cast in the role of Steve, the default character you get when you boot up Minecraft.
Minecraft Steve has even been included as a character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate increasing its popularity.

It is unclear if Black or Momoa will be the star of the film, as Momoa could be an original character as the lead.
Jack Black has been involved in video game movie crossovers before, such as his role as Bowser in The Super Mario Bros. Movie.
Despite Minecraft’s unique block animation style, the new movie will reportedly be live-action.
Jared Hess of Napoleon Dynamite and Nacho Libre fame is set to direct, and the pair had previously worked together when Black took the leading role in Nacho Libre.

While Deadline originally reportedly connected the star to the movie, Black has seemingly confirmed the role on Instagram.
Black posted a picture of himself to his social media profile reading a book called ‘Minecraft Basics’.
The picture is captioned with the words “an actor prepares”, though Black could be joking about the announcement.
He doesn’t confirm that he is in the role, so this news is currently not official.
Warner Bros. has reportedly been in talks with Microsoft and Mojang about creating a Minecraft movie since 2014.
The film has seen a number of writers and directors attached in the decade since, with Shawn Levy, Rob McElhenney, and Peter Sollet all attached to direct at some point.
Matt Berry, Danielle Brooks, Sebastian Eugene Hansen, and Emma Myers will all star in the film alongside Momoa and potentially Black.
