Abhishek Jain, who lives in Belfast with his wife, Nidhi, says serious money through cashback offers

The 42-year-old software architect told The Sun: “I’ve been a member of Topcashback now for around five years, but really doubled down on my efforts to earn via this hack in 2023.

“My efforts paid off, as I managed to amass more than £280 in 12 months.

“Overall, since signing up to Topcashback in 2018, I’ve made around £850 just by shopping smartly online.”

Topcashback is one of the main cashback sites where you can earn money simply by shopping with retailers via their website.

The way it works is simple. Once you’ve found a deal on something you want to buy, you then check with cashback sites to see if they have an offer.

If you find one, you click through the link to your chosen retailer, and the kickback is paid into your account – usually within 30 days of you making the transaction.

You can save on everything from everyday shopping to broadband billscar insurance – and even switching your bank account.

Abhishek said: “I’ve always tried to save extra money wherever I can when buying items, but I made it a priority last year.

“As a result, 2023 was my highest-earning year to date.”

The cashback supremo always checks Topcashback when making online purchases.

“I’ve earned cashback on all sorts of goods and services,” he said.

“These are always things I was already going to buy, such as clothes, home appliances, insurance – and even holidays.”

When The Sun checked, current deals on home insurance include £34 of the price back when taking out cover via Confused.com, £32 via Go.Compare, and up to £75 of the price back with More Than.

If you’re looking to buy home appliances, Topcashback is offering 15% cashback at Currys, and up to 8% at Argos.

Fashion lovers can currently get up to 11% cashback on George at Asda, up to 10% at Shein, and up to 10% at Nike.

Holiday deals include up to £45 cashback on Jet2holidays.com, up to 11% at Hotels.com, and up to 10% at Expedia.

To ensure he never misses a deal, Abhishek has the Topcashback browser extension enabled.

“This means I can see cashback rates any time I visit a retailer’s page,” he said.

“With this in place, I find I can earn cashback on almost everything I buy.”

While Abhishek has always been a saver, with the cost-of-living crisis making everything more expensive, it’s made him even more savvy.

“I’m always on the hunt to see if I can track down a deal,” he said.

“I love the fact my pot just builds throughout the year, just from a few taps on my keyboard. My motto is simple: money saved is money earned.”

In addition to making money as he shops, the cashback whizz is then able to boost his earnings by referring friends to the site.

“Since joining Topcashback five years ago I have referred around 20 friends,” he said.

“I earn roughly £25 for each referral. This is a way to make extra money for doing almost nothing.”

Abhishek is keen to get his friends on board.

“It’s super easy to sign up,” he said. “I want others to reap the rewards of shopping smartly and saving as they spend.”

While Abhishek is a huge fan of Topcashback, this is not the only hack he uses to save money.

“I also use coupon codes wherever I can,” he said. “This is especially the case when buying big DIY equipment.

“My friends and I have also got a system in place where we share DIY items.

“That way, no-one has to pay the full price for any one item – and we all get to reduce our carbon footprint.”

When it comes to filling his car with fuel, Abhishek always shops around to find the cheapest petrol.

Useful sites include petrolprices.com where you can find the forecourts selling the lowest-priced fuel in your local area.

Abhishek’s top tips for using Topcashback

Firstly, make sure you have the browser extension enabled so you can see cashback rates whenever you visit a retailer’s page.

You may also want to Buy Topcashback gift cards.

While cashback can be transferred to your bank account, if you convert your earnings into Topcashback gift cards, this will increase the value.

You may be able to get bonuses of up to 25% on top of your payable cashback

Referring family and friends to the site is an easy way earn extra cash. Referral bonuses range from £25 to £50

Abhishek said to only use a cashback site to purchase things that you need, and never shop just for the sake of earning cashback.

Don’t buy on impulse, as if you didn’t intend to buy it anyway, it’s not really a saving

And when it comes to your savings more generally, be disciplined about keeping your savings pot separate from your day-to-day spending.

What are other cashback sites?

Aside from Topcashback, another popular site for earning cashback is Quidco.

Most sites are free. All you need to do is sign up with your name and email address.

Be patient when using any of these sites, as it may take a few weeks for the money to land in your account.

Note that Ts and Cs will usually apply, so be sure to read the details first so you know when you can expect to get the cashback – and any other requirements.

Abhishek isn’t the only Sun reader cashing in on cashback websites.
