NETFLIX has been doing more than bingeable TV shows and movies for over two years now – not that most people realise it.
A recent report claimed that less than one per cent of Netflix‘s massive 247million subscriber base are actually using it.
And it’s going virtually unnoticed despite being totally free for all account holders, even if you’re on the cheapest tier.
This ever-growing bonus is Netflix Games.
While I’ve reported on many of the updates and launches since it arrived in 2021, I haven’t really put much into playing any myself.
That was until last week when I was on a short-haul flight and desperately sought some free games to quickly download before.

But nothing comes for free and most games on the iOS App Store and Google Play have adverts and other features I find annoying.
So, for my return flight I remembered Netflix Games and thought now would be a good time to take up this useful perk.
Here are three reasons why I love them and would recommend other mobile game players have a gander too.
No ads
Free games are ridden with adverts – we get it, they’re needed to pay for the content.

But sometimes they’re overwhelming and distract from the pleasure of the experience.
All games available from Netflix have no adverts at all so it’s a dream to play.
No in-app purchases
The other annoying (but semi-understandable) feature in free games is the constant badgering for you to pay for extras.
No, I’m not interested in bonus coins for £1, no, I’m not paying to unlock levels early.
Netflix Games have no in-app purchases so you can play as long as you like without interruption.
They enhance the experience of favourite shows
As well as bringing well-known names on board, Netflix has another trick up its sleeve.
That’s its ability to expand the universe of your favourite shows and movies.
There are Stranger Things games such as Stranger Things: 1984.
Reality fans also have Too Hot To Handle: Love Is a Game and Love Is Blind: Netflix Stories.
And there are new ones in the pipeline too.
A Money Heist game based on the popular Spanish series is coming soon.
As is Chicken Run: Eggstraction, which follows the long-awaited sequel movie which has just landed on Netflix.
Aside from that, the firm is wooing people with big launches such as Football Manager completely free.

My favourites are actually the run of the mill puzzle and strategy games, like Word Trails.
