AN Amazon Fire TV Stick user has taken to Reddit to reveal a mysterious issue they’re having with the Netflix app.

The query was posted to the popular Reddit forum r/firetvstick.

“So the main menu has things like Netflix Suggestions row, and I misclicked it for YouTube.

“Having to let the app open to close it, I waited for the “Please log in to your Netflix account” screen when….

“It Didn’t Happen! It just shot me right to the random show that the menu was suggesting [again a misclick] i back out of it and realize it picked up someone else’s account…?

“I got the firestick from a friend of mine and quickly asked him if it was by chance his Netflix account.

“He answered that it wasn’t. So… that leaves me with, Neighbors?Does this normally happen?” the confused user wrote.

Other Fire TV Stick owners were click to reply in the comments and confirm this was not normal.

“It’s certainly not your neighbors account, Maybe you need to get a little more clarity from your friend, somebody that had access to the device put their Netflix info in the Netflix app.

“It can’t just pick up some random account out of thin air,” reads open popular response.

If you are buying or selling a secondhand Fire TV Stick it’s worth making sure it’s deregistered and not still attached to the previous owner.

“If you would like to give your device as a gift or wish to register the device under a different account, you will need to deregister the device from your account,” Amazon says on its website:

Deregistering a device completely removes your personal details from it.

If you lose a device, it’s also worth registering so your personal information isn’t compromised should the gadget fall into the wrong hands.

You can deregister devices connected to your Amazon account on the official Amazon website.

It’s also worth restoring a secondhand Fire TV Stick to its factory settings if you want to start from scratch and make it your own.

To restore your Fire TV Stick to its factory settings you need to head to the Settings app.

Then click on My Fire TV and Reset to Factory Defaults.
