BANK Holidays mean there could be some days when you don’t receive any post.
Deliveries usually don’t happen on Bank Holidays and there’s more than one in May.
The early May Bank Holiday may affect some things such as shops closing slightly earlier and your deliveries may also be delayed.
Here we explain how deliveries and collections could be affected.
Is there post on May 1?
Royal Mail says that it delivers on most days of the year, including Saturdays.
But it doesn’t deliver or collect on public holidays.
That includes any Bank Holidays throughout the year.
You’ll still be able to post a letter at one of the more than 100,000 post boxes across the country though.
But you won’t be able to go into a Post Office on a Bank Holiday as these are usually closed.
If you need to send a larger package or need other services from the Post Office, you’ll need to do this before or after the Bank Holiday.

- Spring Bank Holiday – Monday, May 29
- Summer Bank Holiday – Monday, August 28
