TESCO’S website and app have crashed after being hit by hackers – causing problems for thousands of shoppers.
The outage means people cannot buy groceries online, book deliveries or amend existing orders.

Is the Tesco website and app down?
It’s the second day the supermarket has experienced issues – with the first signs of concerns reported at 9am on Saturday, October 24.
Tesco tweeted on Saturday: “We’re experiencing an issue with our website and app and are working hard to get things back up and running. We apologise for any inconvenience.”
On Sunday morning, the company tweeted: “Our IT teams are doing their best and will have the website and app working as soon as possible. At the moment, we don’t have any updates or a timeframe as to when we can expect this to be. I am really sorry. TY – Cameron.”
Many customers are now cancelling their standing orders with Tesco as they are unable to amend them online prior to them being delivered.
Shoppers voiced their complaints of the outage on social media, with one person on Twitter saying: “A MASSIVE failure by Tesco. Not only will their share price be falling through the floor, there are going to be thousands cancelling their delivery subscriptions. This is not good customer care, especially when Covid cases are rising & we are being encouraged to stay at home.”
Tesco usually receives 1.3m online orders every week.
How to check if the app and website are not working?
The best way to see if the outage problems have been resolved is to check the Tesco website and app throughout the day.
Currently, the grocery site says: “We’re busy fixing it right now and hope this doesn’t cause you too much inconvenience. Please come back and try again later.”
You can still shop on other elements of the supermarket’s site, as F&F clothing is still accessible online currently, and the same goes for Tesco Mobile and Tesco bank.
But those wishing to browse food toiletries and other household goods can’t for the time being.
The supermarket has contacted users on Twitter to say they hope their platforms will be up and running again by the end of Sunday, October 24.
