THOUSANDS of customers were left furious after Tesco’s app and website suffered an outage.
More than 4,000 users were affected by the supermarket‘s technical issues, according to DownDetector.

One disgruntled customer took to X/Twitter and said: “@tesconews is the app going to be up and running?
“I have a delivery tomorrow so want to know if you’re going to make the delivery and if not that you won’t take payment.”
Another wrote: “Shocking @Tesco website down for hours and this week’s big shop is four pints of milk.
“I have 10 minutes to add to my shopping list but how?”

Tesco responded: “Hi there, we are currently experiencing some technical issues. Our advice is to please keep trying the app/website.
“Our IT team are aware and working hard to fix these issues at the moment. I do apologise for the inconvenience.”

Can you claim compensation for outages?
There’s no fixed compensation scheme for supermarket websites being down like you might find with other essential services, like telecoms.
But if you’ve been left out of pocket by being unable to access your account or next delivery details it’s worth contacting Tesco.
You should gather evidence, for example a delivery receipt, and contact Tesco’s customer service.
