Reports of issues began to appear on Down Detector just before 10am this morning form users across the UK.

Users have taken to social media to share their woes, as thousands hoped on getting their hands on presale Beyoncé tickets.

“We apologise to anyone experiencing difficulties trying to get Beyoncé tickets through Priority,” O2 said in a statement.

“Tickets are selling and we’re seeing huge demand. We’re doing everything we can behind the scenes to help keep the app running smoothly.”

Thousands of people jumped onto the app to get Beyoncé tickets.

One fan, who was able to access O2 Priority, wrote on Twitter that they were in a queue of more than 200,000 people waiting for tickets.

One Twitter user said: “The brutally vicious circle of Ticketmaster saying you can only access Beyoncé tickets by ‘following the link in the O2 Priority app’ – but O2 priority collapsing and not working, so there is no way of getting a link.”

Another said: “You lot fully crashed the O2 priority app, I can’t even get my free Greggs mocha!! Get off the damn app!! Beyoncé can wait, I need my mocha now!!”

It is not the first time that technology infrastructure could not hold the weight of fans’ love for their favourite artists.

Fans often use every bit of tech in the arsenal to try and get their hands on their favourite artists’ tickets, using a variety of laptops and smartphones.

But this can cause apps like 02 Priority to crash.

The same thing happened last year when fans raced to get their hands on tickets to watch Peter Kay.
