“Today I learned you can convert between units on text recognized from images,” reads the thread’s title.

An image of an air conditioner’s power usage is attached to the thread.

In the image, the user had tapped on one unit of measurement and their iPhone revealed respective conversions in Watts, Kilowatts, and Horse Power.

The thread has garnered hundreds of upvotes since going live, and a few comments with users praising the hack.

“I frequently use this if a recipe book uses a different measurement unit,” one Reddit user said.

“You have no idea how much time and hassle live text has saved me. One of my favorite features,” a second person remarked.

HOW DOES THE TOOL WORK?

Live Text for iOS 16 has become even more useful for iPhone users.

Live Text lets the Camera app copy, share, look up, and translate text within the camera frame.

All a user needs to do is tap on the live text, and a menu will pop up with related information.

In the case of units of measurement, it will show conversion units seamlessly.

iPhone owners urged to use ‘severely underrated’ accessory and say it’s ‘favorite thing’ – it solves nighttime nightmare

Other units Live Text can easily detect include:

  • Currency
  • Temperature
  • Distance
  • Weight
  • Volume
  • Area
  • Angles

Another way to access this convenient tool is by pulling up the copy menu on any text in any app.

To do this, simply tap on a unit as if you were to copy and paste it.
