A QUICK three-step trick on your iPhone can reveal whether you’re paying too much for your monthly contract.

If you’re finding that you have data left over at the end of the month, it might be worth considering a downgrade.

It’s easy to check your data usage in a lesser-known area in the Settings app.

Open the Settings app and click on Mobile Service or Mobile Data.

Scroll down and you’ll see a section titled Current Period.

Next to the words Current Period will be the amount of data you’ve used.

If the figure you see is very large it’s likely a lifetime figure.

In this case, you’ll need to scroll down and click on Reset Statistics.

Once you click this, your data usage until this point will be scratched and you’ll start again.

You can then check back again in a month and see how much you’ve used.

It’s worth setting a reminder on your phone so you remember to check.

If you’re using a lot less data than you’re allocated, it might be worth downgrading to a cheaper contract.

If you are planning to downgrade, make sure you need enough room for error with your data allowance.

You don’t want to go over it and end up paying more.

The company you have your phone contract with can also tell you about your monthly data usage.

This may appear on the brand’s app or you can contact customer service and ask.
